NASA is preparing a new space mission aimed at studying the Sun's atmosphere and forecasting space weather. The key instrument, JEDI (Joint Extreme ultraviolet lithography coronal Diagnostic Investigation), features two telescopes: SWOC (Space Weather Operational Coronal Imager) and EWOC (Enhanced Wide-angle Observations of the Corona). These will provide high-quality images of the Sun's atmospheric layers, enabling scientists to study solar wind and extreme space weather events with unprecedented detail. JEDI is scheduled for launch in 2031 as part of the European Space Agency (ESA) Vigil mission, positioned at Lagrange point L5, about 30 million kilometers from Earth.
