Extreme Weather Patterns in India: Rising Temperatures and Heavy Rains Expected

New Delhi, October 5, 2024 - India is currently experiencing a significant shift in weather patterns, characterized by rising temperatures and the impending arrival of heavy rainfall in various states.

After a period of hot and humid conditions, the national capital and adjoining NCR recorded light rainfall in some areas this morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 27 degrees Celsius, while the maximum could reach up to 37 degrees Celsius over the next week.

The IMD has issued an All India Warning for several states from October 7 to 10, predicting heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Additional heavy showers are anticipated in Assam, Meghalaya, and other northeastern states on October 8.

As the southwest monsoon officially withdraws, the heat is intensifying across Delhi and other parts of the country, with temperatures expected to remain above normal. Mumbai is also bracing for increased heat, with forecasts predicting temperatures to rise to 36 degrees Celsius next week.

Residents are advised to remain cautious, particularly in low-lying areas where flooding may occur due to the anticipated heavy rains.
