New Delhi, November 27, 2024 – Vedanta Aluminium has announced a strategic partnership with PwC India to spearhead biodiversity and carbon reduction initiatives in Odisha. This collaboration aims to introduce innovative methods for ecological conservation and community engagement.
Under the agreement, PwC India will implement advanced carbon sequestration techniques, GIS-based mapping tools, and seasonal restoration plans. Key efforts include restoring degraded lands to achieve no net loss of biodiversity, guided by habitat development plans created in conjunction with local NGOs and Biodiversity Management Committees.
As part of the initiative, Vedanta Aluminium will distribute 2,000 improved cookstoves to local communities, promoting cleaner cooking methods that enhance air quality and reduce reliance on traditional biomass fuels.
The company also plans to tackle ecological imbalances by eradicating invasive species and reintroducing native flora, utilizing GIS-based mapping for effective restoration planning.
Sunil Gupta, COO of Vedanta Aluminium, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, "This collaboration reinforces our commitment to sustainable growth and environmental stewardship. Together, we aim to set new benchmarks for responsible business practices while conserving our natural resources for future generations."

Vedanta Aluminium, the largest producer of aluminium in India, is set to manufacture over 2.37 million tonnes in FY24, furthering its impact on ecological sustainability.
