On November 13, 2024, the first national evaluation of labor competencies for indigenous youth was held in the Selva Misionera region, recognizing their ancestral knowledge as 'Biodiversity Operators.' This program, supported by various organizations, aims to integrate indigenous knowledge into conservation efforts, providing employment opportunities while preserving cultural heritage.
The evaluation included 19 young participants who demonstrated their expertise in identifying native species and proposing conservation strategies. 'This new role not only highlights the cultural richness of indigenous communities but also promotes their integration into conservation projects,' stated Misael Bustos, program coordinator.
Simultaneously, in Tunisia, the Dhahar Mountains are home to the endangered oryx, a symbol of resilience in the harsh desert environment.
