U.S. Sanctions ICC Judges Over Israeli Arrest Warrant

Edited by: S Света

Washington, D.C. - The United States imposed sanctions on four International Criminal Court (ICC) judges on Thursday.

The sanctions, which include barring entry to the U.S. and blocking assets, are a response to the ICC's pursuit of an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The ICC has stated that these measures are an attempt to undermine the independence of the court.

The targeted judges, Beti Hohler, Reine Alapini-Gansou, Luz del Carmen Ibanez Carranza, and Solomy Balungi Bossa, were involved in proceedings related to the arrest warrant for Netanyahu and investigations into alleged war crimes.

The U.S. is not a party to the Rome Statute, which established the ICC, but many of its allies are. This action highlights the ongoing tension between the U.S. and the ICC regarding international justice and the court's jurisdiction.
