Pakistani authorities reported that over 100 prisoners escaped after a powerful earthquake. The incident occurred in Karachi, where inmates managed to flee during the seismic event. These individuals were awaiting trial and took advantage of the chaos.
Kashif Abbasi, a senior police official, stated that 216 prisoners fled from the Karachi Central Jail. Among them, 78 have been rearrested. He emphasized that no terrorist or high-profile inmates were among those who escaped.
Zia Hassan, Sindh's Home Minister, confirmed that the prison break occurred amidst the earthquake. He added that several security personnel were injured. The situation is under control, and police are actively working to recapture the remaining escapees.
