Bangkok, Thailand - Thailand has increased its military presence along its border with Cambodia.
This move follows a reported build-up of troops on the Cambodian side, escalating tensions between the two Southeast Asian nations.
The reinforcement comes after a recent skirmish and ongoing border disputes.
The Thai Defence Minister stated that Cambodia rejected proposals for de-escalation during bilateral talks.
The Thai army also reported incursions by Cambodian civilians, further fueling the situation.
Cambodia plans to file a complaint with the International Court of Justice regarding the border dispute.
Thailand, however, has not recognized the ICJ's jurisdiction since 1960, preferring bilateral discussions.
Efforts by other nations to mediate the situation have been unsuccessful.
A meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Boundary Commission is scheduled for June 14.
