On November 14, 2024, the European Commission announced the approval of a €4 billion financial aid package for Ukraine as part of the Ukraine Facility. This decision was made public by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who emphasized the ongoing support for Ukraine as it approaches the 1000th day of conflict with Russia.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that the approval followed a positive assessment from the European Commission regarding reforms in Ukraine, confirming that the Ukrainian government met the necessary indicators for receiving this tranche. Shmyhal expressed hope for a swift agreement from the EU Council, which would bring the total support under the Ukraine Facility for the year to €16.1 billion.
Additionally, Shmyhal reported on the outcomes of a meeting with an International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, indicating expectations for a subsequent tranche of $1.1 billion by the end of December.
