Google Labs Introduces 'Disco': A New AI Project to Transform Web Browsing

Google Labs has announced a new experimental project called Disco, which aims to reinvent web discovery and interaction through advanced artificial intelligence. Disco's goal is to turn the standard browser experience into a more personalized and action-oriented tool by using AI to contextualize and reorganize the information a user is currently viewing.

The first major feature rolling out from the Disco project is GenTabs. This technology transforms the tabs a user has open into custom, interactive applications generated on the fly.

Instead of merely acting as static pages, GenTabs uses the specific content and goal of the user to create specialized interfaces for tasks. This means a user can open several tabs related to a topic (e.g., travel sites, weather, currency converters) and then prompt GenTabs to synthesize that information into a single, functional application tailored to a goal.

Examples of what GenTabs can create:

• Plan a trip: Synthesizes flight details, hotel options, and itineraries from multiple open booking sites.

The fundamental idea behind Disco and GenTabs is that because the apps are generated based on the user's specific tabs and stated goals, there is virtually "no end to what you can make."
