Central Java is preparing to launch 'Sekolah Rakyat' (People's School) in July 2025. Governor Ahmad Luthfi announced the initiative aims to improve education access and reduce poverty. The program includes partnerships with private schools to accommodate underprivileged students. The government is verifying facilities for 'Sekolah Rakyat' across districts. These schools target children from poor and extremely poor families, as well as those at risk of dropping out. Partnership schools can accommodate around 5,000 students from these backgrounds. Several locations in Central Java have already signed contracts for 'Sekolah Rakyat'. These include Temanggung, Solo, Baturaden, Magelang, and Pati. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf explained that 'Sekolah Rakyat' is President Prabowo Subianto's initiative to improve public welfare and prepare for Indonesia's centennial in 2045.
