Russian and Chinese Navies Conduct Joint Anti-Submarine Exercises in the Pacific

On October 8, 2024, Russian and Chinese navy warships conducted joint anti-submarine missions in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, marking a significant development in military cooperation between the two nations. This operation is part of a broader initiative following their participation in the Beibu/Interaction 2024 naval exercises held in September.

The Russian Pacific Fleet reported that a tactical group of warships maneuvered to establish a defensive formation against potential submarine threats. The exercise involved large anti-submarine destroyers from Russia, including the Admiral Panteleyev and Admiral Tributs, alongside Chinese vessels such as the destroyers Xining and Wuxi, the frigate Linyi, and the integrated supply ship Taihu.

Although the timeline for these exercises was not disclosed, the operations are expected to enhance the naval capabilities of both nations and strengthen their strategic partnership in the Asia-Pacific region. This collaboration occurs amidst rising tensions in the area, making it a point of interest for global security dynamics.
