China has inaugurated its first humanoid robot training facility in Shanghai, marking a major step in the country's efforts to develop large-scale applications for humanoid robots. The Humanoid Robot Kylin Training Ground can currently accommodate over 100 robots, with plans to expand to 1,000 by 2027.

The facility will collaborate with local robot manufacturers to collect 10 million high-quality physical data entries by the end of 2025, helping to build a leading dataset for humanoid robots. The initiative aims to enhance robot intelligence and flexibility, particularly in manufacturing and public services.

China is rapidly advancing in artificial intelligence and robotics to address challenges like an aging population and strengthen its position in global tech competition. The country plans to launch an upgraded Deep Snake humanoid robot and will host the first World Humanoid Robot Sports Games later this year.

Governments across China are supporting humanoid robot development through policies and funding. Beijing is prioritizing robotics in its 2025 economic plans, while Zhejiang Province aims to produce 20,000 humanoid robots annually by 2027, with the industry projected to reach 50 billion yuan.
