In a remarkable turn of events for the Polish film industry, the local production 'Akademia Pana Kleksa' has achieved significant box office success in 2024, outpacing even major Hollywood releases. This marks a notable recovery for Polish cinemas, which are still rebounding from the pandemic's impact.

After a dramatic drop in attendance to just 17 million in 2020, the industry has seen a gradual resurgence, reaching approximately 50 million viewers in 2024. However, this figure still falls short of the pre-pandemic record of around 60 million in 2019.

Film premieres play a crucial role in attracting audiences, and while Hollywood productions traditionally dominate, 'Akademia Pana Kleksa' has proven that Polish cinema can also draw large crowds. The film attracted nearly 3 million viewers, leaving behind popular titles such as 'Dune: Part Two' and 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' which sold approximately 1.74 million and similar figures, respectively.

In addition to 'Akademia Pana Kleksa,' animated films like 'Inside Out 2' and 'Minions: The Rise of Gru' also performed well, with 2.7 million and 2.3 million viewers, respectively. Polish film 'Listy do M. Pożegnania i powroty' also saw a strong turnout, drawing 1.9 million viewers, nearly half a million more than its predecessor.
