Romania is making a bold statement at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival with three significant films: Anul Nou care n-a fost, Trei kilometri până la capătul lumii, and Nasty.

Scheduled for January 2025, this prestigious festival will showcase these notable productions that highlight the creativity and diversity of Romanian filmmakers. Anul Nou care n-a fost, directed by Bogdan Mureșanu, explores the dramatic events of the 1989 revolution, earning the Orizzonti Award for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival. Meanwhile, Trei kilometri până la capătul lumii, directed by Emanuel Pârvu, is Romania's submission for the 2025 Oscars, tackling a moral crisis in a conservative community after a brutal attack on a gay teenager.

Lastly, Nasty, directed by Tudor Giurgiu, offers a captivating documentary on the legendary tennis player Ilie Năstase, featuring rare archival footage and interviews with tennis icons.

This participation is supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, which plays a vital role in promoting Romanian cinema across North America.
