Severe Snow Warnings Across UK

On November 19, the Met Office issued yellow National Severe Weather Warnings for snow and ice across 19 areas in the United Kingdom. The warnings will remain in effect from Monday through Wednesday, impacting regions including Scotland, Northern Ireland, and parts of northern England, north Wales, and the north Midlands.

Forecasts indicate that central and southern areas will experience cloud and rain with hill sleet in the morning, clearing later in the day. The northern and eastern regions are expected to see cold temperatures accompanied by sunshine and snow showers. A chilly northerly wind will prevail.

Chief Meteorologist Dan Suri noted that a low-pressure system will move eastward on Monday night, bringing disruptive snow to various locations between Monday evening and Tuesday morning. This weather pattern may coincide with rush hour, potentially disrupting transport across central areas of the UK.

Areas under the yellow weather warning include:

  • East Midlands: Derby, Leicester, Lincolnshire, Nottingham

  • North West England: Blackburn with Darwen, Cheshire East, Greater Manchester, Lancashire

  • Wales: Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire

  • West Midlands: Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire

Residents are urged to stay informed about updates to the weather warnings throughout the week.
