A new Japanese garden, Jardín Japonés Punta, is set to officially open on January 25, 2025, in Laguna del Sauce, Uruguay. This five-hectare paradise combines local flora with traditional Japanese design, offering a unique space for contemplation and cultural connection.

Inspired by Japanese gardens, Juan Carlos López Mena and his family created this haven to reflect their love for nature and Japanese culture. The garden features a zigzagging bridge, known as 'yatsuhashi,' that symbolizes the importance of mindfulness and decision-making in Japanese philosophy.

The garden incorporates native Uruguayan species alongside exotic plants like azaleas and camellias, creating a refuge for local wildlife, including foxes, capybaras, otters, and various birds. The design, crafted by landscape architect Fernando Matsui, emphasizes harmony and the spiritual connection between nature and humanity.

Visitors can engage with the garden's biodiversity through QR codes placed at the base of trees and plants, offering insights into their history and significance. A guided tour culminates in a countryside brunch, providing a flavorful conclusion to a serene experience.
