Mauritania Introduces E-Visa System Starting January 2025

Starting January 5, 2025, travelers planning to visit the captivating landscapes and rich cultures of Mauritania will need to apply for an e-visa. This shift marks a significant step towards the digitization of the West African nation's immigration processes, eliminating the need for traditional sticker visas and on-arrival applications.

Previously, visitors had to obtain a sticker visa from an embassy or consulate or secure an on-arrival visa, but now the process is simplified. Travelers can apply for their e-visa through the Mauritian National Agency for the Population Register and Secure Titles (ANRPTS) website prior to their departure.

The e-visa options include durations of 30, 60, or 90 days, allowing travelers to choose based on their intended stay. The application requires basic personal information, contact details, and the purpose of the visit. Additionally, applicants must specify whether they seek a single, double, or multiple entries during their visa's validity and indicate their arrival date. A passport-sized photo and a scanned passport copy with at least six months of validity beyond the arrival date must also be uploaded.

Upon arrival in Mauritania, travelers will need to print their e-visa and present it to immigration authorities. Biometric details will be collected at the point of entry to finalize their admission into the country.

This new e-visa system not only streamlines the travel process but also enhances security and efficiency for visitors eager to explore Mauritania's stunning natural beauty and vibrant culture.
