Turkey to Deliver Aid to Gaza on January 28, 2025

A Turkish delegation is coordinating with Egyptian authorities to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, scheduled for January 28, 2025. The delegation, which includes representatives from the Turkish Red Crescent and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), met with North Sinai Governor Khaled Mogawar to discuss logistical arrangements.

The meeting focused on the coordination of aid shipments entering Gaza and preparations for the arrival of a Turkish aid vessel expected to dock at the port of Al-Arish. The Turkish delegation also inspected storage facilities in Al-Arish where humanitarian supplies are being held prior to their transfer to Gaza.

On January 27, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that the 14th Turkish aid ship had departed from Mersin, carrying 871 tons of supplies, including 10,460 tents, 14,350 blankets, and 300 generators.

This aid effort comes in the context of a ceasefire agreement that began on January 19, 2025, facilitating negotiations for prisoner exchanges between Hamas and Israel, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. The agreement consists of three phases, each lasting 42 days, aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with reports indicating significant casualties among the Palestinian population due to the ongoing conflict. The international community is closely monitoring these developments as Turkey continues its efforts to provide support.
