Jony Ive, former chief designer at Apple, is collaborating with OpenAI to design AI hardware. The specifics of the hardware remain unclear.
In an interview with The New York Times, Ive revealed that OpenAI has tasked his design firm, LoveFrom, with creating AI hardware intended for market release. Both Ive and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman anticipate that generative AI will enable the development of new types of devices capable of handling more complex user requests than current models.
Reports indicate that discussions between OpenAI and Ive regarding AI hardware began last year.
