Uber has announced a strategic partnership with Lucid Motors and Nuro to develop a premium global robotaxi service. Under this agreement, Uber will invest $300 million in Lucid Motors and acquire over 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro's Level 4 autonomous driving technology over the next six years. The initial deployment is planned for a major U.S. city in 2026, with the vehicles operated exclusively through the Uber platform. This collaboration aims to integrate Lucid's advanced electric vehicle architecture with Nuro's self-driving system, leveraging Uber's extensive global network to offer a scalable and efficient autonomous ride-hailing service. The first prototype of this robotaxi is currently undergoing testing at Nuro's Las Vegas facility. This partnership reflects Uber's commitment to advancing autonomous transportation solutions and expanding its service offerings in the evolving mobility landscape.
