PLD Space Advances MIURA 5 and Unveils Ambitious Plans for Reusable Launchers and Manned Capsule

PLD Space has made significant strides in space exploration with the development of MIURA 5, a reusable rocket, and the introduction of MIURA Next, a family of large reusable launchers, alongside LINCE, Europe's first private manned capsule. Following the successful launch of MIURA 1 in October 2023, the company has focused on enhancing propulsion, structural design, and reusability for MIURA 5. CEO Raul Torres highlighted the TEPREL-C engine, capable of 190 kN of thrust, as a key component, enabling the rocket to land and reduce costs.

The newly opened production facility in Elche is designed to manufacture six MIURA 5 launchers and 60 TEPREL-C engines by 2025, with commercial flights planned for 2026. Looking to the future, MIURA Next, scheduled for its first flight in 2030, aims to lift up to 50 tonnes to orbit, while LINCE will enable independent manned missions for Europe, with initial tests planned for 2025.

Additionally, PLD Space's SPARK program promotes educational initiatives in space science, having received applications from 24 countries. The event was supported by Spain's Minister of Science, highlighting the country's commitment to advancing space exploration.
