FrontDoc Festival 2024: A Celebration of Boundary-Pushing Cinema from October 26 to November 2

The FrontDoc Festival, dedicated to exploring diverse cinematic expressions, returns for its 14th edition from October 26 to November 2, 2024, at Teatro Giacosa and Spazio Plus in Aosta. Directed by Nora Demarchi and Gianluca Rossi, this year’s festival features 49 films from 23 countries, with 32 directed or co-directed by women.

The festival kicks off on October 26 at 8 PM with the screening of “Bestiari, Erbari, Lapidari” by Massimo D'Anolfi and Martina Parenti, part of the “Frontiera Italia” section dedicated to Italian films. From October 27 to November 1, 26 films will compete, screened daily at 5 PM and 9 PM, all with free admission.

“This year’s selections tackle significant themes with unconventional approaches,” explains Rossi. The festival promises a raw and thought-provoking cinematic experience, including eight short films that introduce fictional narratives.

A jury composed of industry professionals, including Ukrainian producer Oleksandra Kravchenko, will judge the competing films. Notable events include a performance art piece on October 26, a documentary screening on October 30, and a closing concert by Meganoidi on November 2.

In addition to the film screenings, FrontDoc will host an Industry Day on October 30, connecting local professionals with national and international industry leaders, along with workshops aimed at nurturing the next generation of filmmakers.
