On January 17, 2025, PostFinance, a government-owned bank in Switzerland, announced it will offer Ether staking to its 2.7 million customers, representing about a quarter of the Swiss population. This service is fully integrated into existing banking services, allowing customers to view their staking rewards alongside other crypto assets.
Currently, only Ether staking is available, but the bank plans to expand to other cryptocurrencies in the future. As of now, over 33 million Ether are staked, a significant increase from 682,000 on December 1, 2020. Lido Finance leads the Ether staking market with a 28% share, followed by Coinbase at 9.5%.
PostFinance manages approximately $136 billion, reflecting its commitment to expanding digital asset offerings, including previous initiatives in crypto trading and custody services launched in early 2024.
