Aabenraa Municipality, Denmark, inaugurated the world's largest Power-to-X (PtX) facility in Kassø on May 13, 2025. This facility marks a significant advancement in the green transition, producing e-methanol for major companies like Novo Nordisk, LEGO, and Maersk. The plant is a pivotal development for renewable energy and sustainable practices.

European Energy's PtX facility boasts a 52 MW capacity and is projected to produce approximately 42,000 tonnes of green fuels annually. This operational facility highlights the municipality's dedication to green industrial ventures and its strategic approach to district planning and business strategy. The facility aims to decarbonize shipping and realize sector coupling.

Aabenraa Municipality is attracting green investors through its political will and multiple ongoing initiatives. The municipality provides robust infrastructure, including a strong electricity grid, logistics hub, deep-water port, and green fuel bunkering. This positions Aabenraa as a prime location for companies focused on building a sustainable future. The first e-methanol was bunkered by Laura Maersk, the world's first container vessel powered by green fuel.
