Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas discussed reconstruction plans on Wednesday. This followed the EU's decision to lift sanctions on Syria.

Shaibani expressed gratitude for the EU's decision, calling it a positive step towards stability. Both parties agreed on the importance of coordination on political, humanitarian, and economic issues.

They highlighted the need for cooperation between the Syrian government and the EU. This cooperation aims to effectively address basic needs and infrastructure support.

The discussion also covered the voluntary return of Syrian refugees. Coordination with the EU, Türkiye, Jordan, and Lebanon is deemed necessary.

The EU lifted economic sanctions on Syria to support the country's rebuilding efforts. This decision followed similar directives from the US.
