President Vladimir Putin met with the Chairman of Yemen in Moscow on May 28, 2025, to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues.

Putin congratulated Yemen on its National Unity Day and highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, dating back to 1928.

Discussions covered political, trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation, with a focus on trade ties, personnel training, and the resumption of the Intergovernmental Commission.

Putin announced plans for a Russia-Arab Summit in Moscow in October 2025, inviting Yemen's participation.

He noted that many Arab nations have agreed to attend, aiming to strengthen relations with the Arab world.

Trade between Russia and Yemen is approximately $400 million, with potential growth in agriculture, fishing, mining, and energy sectors.

About 1,500 Yemenis are studying in Russia, with 400 receiving budget-supported education, fostering people-to-people communication.

The meeting underscores Russia's commitment to strengthening ties with Yemen and expanding its engagement in the Arab world.

The summit in 2025 is expected to further solidify these relationships and address key regional and international issues.
