On May 25, 2025, at the UN Global Compact’s Inaugural Global Business Summit in Jakarta, 24 leading solar companies, including JA Solar, Jinko Solar, Tongwei, LONGi, and GCL Group, launched the Global Solar Sustainable Alliance (GSSA). This initiative aims to bolster sustainability across the solar energy value chain.
The GSSA is aligned with the UNGC Ten Principles and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), outlining nine actionable pathways across three pillars to advance ESG progress. The alliance seeks to promote green mineral sourcing, protect ecosystems, and build an equitable society within the solar industry.
The initiative encourages the adoption of sustainability principles and strategies, driving the solar industry towards a more sustainable future through collaboration and stakeholder engagement. This is a critical step in global energy transition, with solar energy serving as a pivotal solution for combating climate change and achieving carbon neutrality.
