Colombia has officially become a member of the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB). The announcement was made by Colombia's Foreign Minister, Laura Sarabia, who celebrated the news on social media.
The NDB, established by the BRICS nations, aims to support infrastructure and sustainable development projects in emerging economies. The inclusion of Colombia is expected to enhance the bank's capacity to fund projects in Latin America.
The decision was confirmed by Dilma Rousseff, the President of the NDB, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This development follows President Gustavo Petro's formal request, highlighting Colombia's commitment to global economic initiatives.
