Cambodia Responds to Potential US Tariffs by Lowering Duties on American Goods

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

Cambodia has announced it will reduce tariffs on imports from the United States following President Trump's proposal of a 49% "reciprocal" tariff on all Cambodian imports.

Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul stated in a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer that Cambodia is committed to promoting imports of U.S. products by immediately reducing tariffs on 19 categories of goods from its maximum consolidated rate of 35% to an applied tariff rate of 5%. These products include motorcycles, cars, and various agricultural goods.

Cambodia is now requesting that the U.S. initiate negotiations with the Southeast Asian nation and extend the deadline for implementing Trump's tariffs.
