G7 Intensifies Pressure on Russia Amid Ukraine Conflict, Considers New Sanctions in 2025

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

The Group of Seven (G7) is increasing pressure on Russia in 2025, threatening new sanctions if Moscow fails to respect Ukraine's borders. This was emphasized by the G7 foreign ministers, who insist on full respect for Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.

The G7 has pledged assistance to Ukraine, aiming to attract foreign investment and mobilize the private sector for reconstruction efforts. The group is also exploring options to maximize pressure on Russia, including further sanctions if a ceasefire is not agreed upon. The G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors met in Banff, Canada, on May 20-22, 2025, reaffirming their commitment to supporting Ukraine.
