us Imposes Visa Ban on Indian Travel Agency Officials Over Illegal Immigration Concerns

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

The US State Department announced a visa ban on owners, executives, and senior officials of India-based travel agencies on Monday. The department accuses these agencies of knowingly facilitating illegal immigration to the United States.

The statement, issued by spokesperson Tammy Bruce, did not disclose the names of the individuals or agencies affected. It also lacked specifics on how the alleged illegal immigration was being facilitated.

The State Department's Consular Affairs and Diplomatic Security Service in India identified those involved in facilitating illegal immigration, human smuggling, and trafficking. The US vows to continue imposing visa restrictions to disrupt alien smuggling networks. This restriction applies even to individuals eligible for the Visa Waiver Program.

The US emphasizes that enforcing immigration laws is crucial for upholding the rule of law and protecting Americans. The US embassies have been warning visa holders against overstaying their visas, which could lead to deportation and a permanent ban.
