On Saturday, February 24th, Ukraine and Russia conducted a prisoner exchange, resulting in the return of 307 Ukrainian prisoners of war. This exchange involved soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service, and the National Guard of Ukraine.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the exchange was part of a larger effort to bring home all Ukrainian prisoners held by Russia. He mentioned that negotiations for further exchanges are ongoing. Over the past two days, a total of 697 people have been returned.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that Ukraine handed over 307 Russian soldiers as part of the exchange. It is reported that many Russian soldiers are currently being treated on the territory of Belarus. The exchange took place amidst ongoing conflict between the two countries.
