Philippines And United States Conduct Joint Naval Exercises In South China Sea

MANILA, June 5 - The Philippines and the United States conducted joint naval exercises in the South China Sea for the seventh time. The exercises, which took place on Wednesday, aimed to enhance interoperability between the two militaries.

The joint operations included exercises near shorelines and fire support. The Philippine armed forces stated that the maritime cooperative activity demonstrates the commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation and enhance interoperability in accordance with international law.

The exercises also showcased the Philippine vessel Miguel Malvar, a new guided missile frigate. Military engagements between the allies have increased under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in response to China's growing presence in the South China Sea.
