Tokyo, May 23 - Japan's top tariff negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, plans to visit the United States around May 30 for a fourth round of trade talks. This information was confirmed by two sources familiar with the matter.
During the visit, Akazawa intends to meet with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Bessent was unable to attend the third round of talks this weekend between Akazawa and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Akazawa also aims to meet with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
The upcoming talks signify continued efforts to address trade relations between Japan and the United States. Further details regarding the agenda of the meeting were not immediately available.
