Tokyo, April 30 - Japan's top trade negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, aims for rapid progress in tariff negotiations with the United States. This comes as Japanese automakers face increasing losses due to existing tariffs.
According to Akazawa, one automaker reported suffering a $1 million loss every hour due to tariffs. He emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that no Japanese company can sustain a 25% tariff on auto exports.
Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba reiterated Japan's stance, demanding the abolition of U.S. tariff measures. He also highlighted the importance of jointly creating jobs and playing a harmonized role in the global economy.
