Germany and Ukraine are set to deepen military cooperation. Defense ministers from both countries will sign a letter of intent. This agreement aims to facilitate joint manufacturing and acquisition of long-range weapon systems produced in Ukraine.
German Chancellor Merz highlighted this as a new form of military-industrial cooperation. Ukrainian President Zelensky added that the agreement includes funding for ongoing arms production projects in Ukraine. However, Merz did not confirm the transfer of Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine.
Zelensky reiterated Ukraine's need for German weaponry. He also urged NATO to invite Ukraine to its upcoming summit in June. Russia has criticized Germany's plans, calling them irresponsible and dangerous.
