Germany says Ukraine can use supplied weapons to strike Russia

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated on Monday that Ukraine has permission to use weapons provided by its allies, including Germany, to strike targets within Russia. This announcement was made at a conference in Berlin.

Merz clarified that there are no longer any range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine by Britain, France, Germany, or the United States. This allows Ukraine to defend itself by attacking military positions inside Russia.

The statement marks a significant shift in policy, potentially escalating the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The ability to strike military targets within Russia could alter the dynamics of the war.
