Aerones Secures $62M to Advance AI-Powered Wind Turbine Maintenance Globally

Edited by: Irina Davgaleva

Latvian tech firm Aerones has obtained $62 million in funding to expand its AI-driven robotic solutions for maintaining wind turbines across the globe. This investment will help Aerones scale its operations and improve its robotic technology, ensuring a more sustainable and reliable energy supply.

Aerones' robots can service wind turbine blades in about half the time it takes humans, significantly decreasing downtime and costs for energy companies. This efficiency is essential for maintaining the growing global wind power infrastructure.

The funding round was led by U.S. investors Activate Capital and S2G Investments. Aerones also benefits from a 4 million euro grant from the EU Innovation Fund, supporting their innovative approach. Since 2020, Aerones' efforts have enabled nearly 400,000 MWh of additional clean electricity and prevented 165,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
