Israel Approves US-Proposed Gaza Ceasefire Extension Through Ramadan and Passover

Israel has approved a U.S.-proposed extension of the ceasefire in Gaza through Ramadan and Passover, which will occur in April. The proposal, presented by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, aims to facilitate the release of all hostages during this period. According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office, the plan entails the release of half the hostages, both living and deceased, upon its commencement. The remaining captives would be freed if an agreement on a permanent ceasefire is reached. Israel has expressed readiness to begin negotiations on the Witkoff plan immediately, contingent on Hamas's acceptance.
