Nigeria is automating its electronic visa approval and issuance process to enhance travel and business. The initiative aims to eliminate long wait times and reduce reliance on intermediaries. Short-stay visas can be applied for online, with approvals expected within 24 to 48 hours. The e-visa will be sent to the applicant's email, removing the need for a physical visa sticker upon arrival. According to Interior Minister Olubunmi Ojo, the policy seeks to improve business ease, tourism, and international relations. Since May 2023, the government has been working to streamline visa processes for foreigners and passport issuance for Nigerians, including a contactless application system for those abroad.
