Viasat, Inc. confirmed the successful launch of its high-capacity ViaSat-3 F2 satellite on November 5, 2025, marking a critical step in the company's global network strategy. The launch occurred at 10:24 p.m. ET from Space Launch Complex-41 at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, utilizing a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V551 rocket.

The ViaSat-3 F2 satellite, which weighs approximately 13,000 pounds (5,900 kilograms), is designed to more than double Viasat's current network capacity, focusing on extending comprehensive coverage across the Americas. This deployment is integral to underpinning next-generation services, including Viasat Amara, NexusWave, and the Government Hybrid SATCOM Architecture. Mark Dankberg, Chairman and CEO of Viasat, stated that the launch is key to meeting exponential demand from commercial mobility, fixed broadband, and defense customers.

Following the launch, the satellite will undergo several months of rigorous in-orbit testing of both the bus and payload before commercial operations are scheduled to commence in early 2026. The full ViaSat-3 constellation is projected to deliver a total global capacity exceeding 3 terabits per second, with the F2 asset specifically targeting the Americas. This high throughput capacity is intended to support diverse applications, such as fast Wi-Fi for commercial aviation, fixed broadband for homes, and resilient connectivity for government missions.

This successful mission builds upon the foundation set by the earlier ViaSat-3 F1 launch in April 2023. The ViaSat-3 F2 is engineered with dynamic beam-forming capabilities and over 1,000 steerable spot beams to efficiently deploy bandwidth to areas experiencing the highest demand, ensuring flexible and reliable service delivery as part of Viasat's multi-orbit network roadmap.
