Hitachi and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) are collaborating to modernize U.S. energy infrastructure using AI. The partnership aims to address the increasing demand for electricity driven by data centers and electrification.
The integrated AI-based solution is expected to reduce generator interconnection study analysis times by 80%. This will significantly speed up the process of bringing new energy sources online.
The project will combine expertise from Hitachi, including Method's design services, GlobalLogic's software engineering, Hitachi Energy's asset modeling, Hitachi R&D's AI algorithms, and Hitachi Vantara's storage platform. Phase one milestones are expected by winter 2025/26.
The initiative will help SPP facilitate the addition of generating capacity to meet rising electricity demand. The U.S. energy demand is rising by 2-3% annually.
