TCL is introducing the Movetime MT48, a new smartwatch designed for children that combines advanced safety features with creative tools. This device aims to provide parents with peace of mind while encouraging children's independence and imagination.
The Movetime MT48 will be available across Europe by the end of October 2025, with a retail price of approximately €150. It will be rolled out in Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and France.
Key safety features include dual-band L1+L5 GPS for enhanced location accuracy, even in challenging environments. Parents can set up custom 'safe zones' via the TCL Connect app and receive alerts if their child leaves these areas. An integrated SOS button allows children to quickly send an alert with their current location to their parents. Full 4G connectivity supports video calls, VoLTE voice calls, instant messaging, and secure photo sharing.
For educational focus, the 'School Time' mode restricts access to games, the camera, and non-essential notifications during learning hours, while keeping critical safety functions active. The watch also includes a step tracker to promote an active lifestyle. Additionally, TCL is incorporating AI-powered tools, such as an AI image creator and interactive guessing games, to foster creativity and cognitive engagement.
Technically, the Movetime MT48 is powered by a Unisoc W377 chipset, featuring 512MB of ROM and 4GB of RAM. It has a 1.68-inch TFT display and boasts IP68 and 2ATM water resistance, making it suitable for everyday wear, including swimming. The 900mAh battery offers up to 2.5 days of typical usage or up to seven days in standby mode.
TCL emphasizes its commitment to digital well-being and privacy, with the Movetime MT48 adhering to stringent standards including GDPR, ISO 27701, and ISO 27001 to safeguard user data. The company's approach focuses on a practical, safety-first philosophy, offering a reliable alternative for parents prioritizing a secure digital experience for their children.
