HMD Global Launches Watch X1, P1 Smartwatches and DUB Audio Series

Edited by: Tetiana Pin

Nordic manufacturer HMD Global formally expanded its consumer electronics portfolio in January 2026, introducing its inaugural smartwatch line alongside a comprehensive suite of six new headphones under the HMD DUB audio series. This strategic expansion signals a deliberate pivot by the company to cultivate a broader ecosystem of connected personal devices, moving beyond its historical reliance on simpler mobile hardware.

The new smartwatch offerings target distinct segments of the wearables market. The HMD Watch X1 is positioned as the premium model, featuring a 1.43-inch circular AMOLED display with 600 nits peak brightness and an Always On Display function. It carries an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and promises up to five days of battery life. In contrast, the HMD Watch P1 adopts a square design, incorporating a slightly larger 1.83-inch AMOLED screen with 550 nits brightness and four days of typical battery life, alongside an IP67 rating. Both devices utilize HMD's proprietary Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) for optimized, low-energy consumption.

Core functionalities are shared across both watch models, including support for Bluetooth calling, notification mirroring, and comprehensive health monitoring for heart rate, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), sleep patterns, and stress levels. Both watches are also equipped to track up to 700 different sports activities and rely on proprietary magnetic charging solutions. The P1 model further distinguishes itself with a physical side button styled as a functional crown, adhering to established smartwatch conventions.

The simultaneous introduction of the six-model DUB audio series further solidifies HMD's entry into the wearables sector. The flagship Dub X50 Pro integrates Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Hi-Fi sound fidelity, and a total battery life of 60 hours, supported by quad microphones for call quality. The mid-range includes the Dub P70 with ANC and 45 hours of total battery life, and the Dub S60 featuring Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) and 35 hours of playback. The value-oriented Dub P60 offers ENC and 30 hours of total battery life, reportedly with an estimated starting price around 20 USD in certain markets.

This launch places HMD Global within the context of the rapidly expanding global wearable technology market, which industry reports project to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15.9% between 2025 and 2030. The simultaneous release of watches and six audio models demonstrates an intent to capture market share by offering competitive specifications, such as AMOLED screens and high IP ratings. The Middle East rollout across the UAE, KSA, and Qatar, beginning in January 2026, confirms the accessory expansion as a significant component of the company's forward strategy.
