Europe is set to see a significant boost in electric vehicle charging capabilities with the upcoming deployment of 1 MW charging stations by BYD and Ionity.
BYD plans to begin building super-fast charging stations in Europe within a year, following its success in China where it already has two models supporting 1 MW charging.
Ionity, backed by major automakers, will also introduce megawatt charging, utilizing Alpitronic HYC 1000 stations. However, the maximum real power per cable will be 600 kW, with plans for four connectors per location.
BYD's new Han L sedan and Tang L SUV, supporting 1 MW charging, are expected to arrive in Europe within the year.
The Tang L EV offers 500 kW in the base version and up to 810 kW in the all-wheel-drive variant, accelerating to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. The Han L EV shares similar specs, reaching 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.
