Edited by: Veronika Radoslavskaya

Microsoft has released AI-powered updates for Paint, Snipping Tool, and Notepad in Windows 11 for participants in the Insider program in the Canary and Dev channels, starting May 22, 2025. These updates aim to enhance creativity, precision, and writing assistance within these core applications.

Paint

Paint now includes an AI-powered sticker generator, allowing users to create custom stickers by describing the desired image via the Copilot menu. Additionally, Paint features an object selection tool for isolating and editing specific image elements. A new welcome experience highlights the updated capabilities of Paint to help users get started.

Snipping Tool

The Snipping Tool has been updated with a 'Perfect Screenshot' feature, which uses AI to precisely capture screen content without manual adjustments. A color selector is also included for accurate color capture, benefiting designers and developers by providing HEX, RGB, or HSL values.

Notepad

Notepad now offers AI-assisted writing, enabling users to draft text quickly based on prompts. Microsoft 365 subscribers can use AI credits for this feature, which can be disabled in the app settings if desired. Users can access this feature through the Copilot menu or by using the Ctrl + Q combination.
