Vietnam Launches First Humanoid Robot, Targeting $7 Trillion Global Market

12:57, 06 June

Edited by: Veronika Radoslavskaya

Hanoi, Vietnam - Vingroup, a leading Vietnamese conglomerate, has unveiled VinMotion, the nation's first domestically developed humanoid robot.

This marks a significant step in Vietnam's ambition to become a key player in the global robotics industry. VinMotion, a subsidiary of Vingroup, was established in January 2025 with a focus on developing and commercializing humanoid robots.

The initial prototype, developed by Vietnamese engineers in just over three months, can walk, wave, and interact using basic gestures. VinMotion will initially be deployed in VinFast's electric vehicle production plants for tasks like parts transportation and quality checks.

Vingroup aims to develop more advanced robots with capabilities in language processing, visual recognition, and interactive features. These advancements are targeted for applications in logistics, healthcare, education, and customer service.

The global robotics market, particularly the humanoid robot segment, is projected to reach $7 trillion by 2050, according to Citibank. Pham Nhat Vuong, Vietnam's first billionaire, stated that VinMotion demonstrates Vietnam's ability to create technology, not just consume it.

VinMotion is part of Vingroup's broader investment strategy in cutting-edge fields, including AI and big data. The company is also collaborating with international institutions to accelerate commercialization. This initiative symbolizes Vietnam's commitment to innovation in the age of AI and automation.
