Taiwan Deploys Nursing Robots to Combat Healthcare Staff Shortages

Edited by: Veronika Radoslavskaya

Taiwan is integrating nursing robots into hospitals to address healthcare staff shortages.

These robots, developed by Foxconn and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, are designed to handle repetitive and physically demanding tasks. This allows medical staff to focus on direct patient care.

The Nurabot robot, currently being tested at the Taichung Veterans General Hospital, can deliver medications, transport samples, and patrol hallways. It is estimated that Nurabot can reduce the workload of nursing staff by up to 30%.

Foxconn has also introduced AI models for patient health monitoring and digital twins of hospital facilities. These innovations aim to improve efficiency and the quality of medical care.
