Beijing hosted China's first humanoid robot half-marathon, showcasing the country's AI technology. Twenty-one robots competed against human runners, but many experienced technical difficulties. Several robots broke down during the race, requiring intervention from race officials. The event aimed to highlight China's advancements in AI and robotics, as it seeks to compete with the United States. The winning robot, Tiangong Ultra, finished the 13-mile race in 2 hours and 40 minutes. According to CNN, Tang Jian, CTO for the robotics information center, attributed Tiangong's performance to its long legs and human-mimicking algorithm.
