San Francisco-based Anthropic has rolled out web search functionality for its Claude AI chatbot. Launched in March 2023, Claude previously relied solely on its internal knowledge database.
The new feature, currently in preview for paid subscribers in the US, allows Claude to access the internet for real-time information, enhancing accuracy. Users must select the Claude 3.7 Sonnet model and enable web search in settings. Claude automatically determines when web access is needed, providing inline citations for source verification.
Anthropic plans to expand web search to more countries and free users.
